2. Incorrect.

How many of us respond positively to constructive criticism when we are uncertain about something in our lives? Just because the practitioner may intend an offer of criticism (or of a different perspective or understanding of a client’s situation) to be constructive, is no guarantee that the client will receive it as such. And if the criticism or reframing end up being followed by the client, but not helpful because of practitioner inaccuracy/error, the therapeutic relationship may be damaged, and the client may easily blame the practitioner for the lack of progress rather than own a greater amount of personal responsibility for their recovery.
